It has been 75 years since Skopes first began its journey. In 1948, founder Sydney Cope established the company in Leeds, where he began sourcing fabric from Yorkshire’s finest mills to create bespoke trousers that quickly gained attention. The Skopes name soon became synonymous with high-quality cavalry twills, Hebden Bridge corduroy, and the finest worsted yarns sourced from Huddersfield. As the brand’s reputation grew, so did its offerings, leading to the introduction of a ready-to-wear line of men’s clothing.
Over the years, the business continued to expand and has remained in the Cope family. Geoffrey, Sydney’s son, took over the business during the 1970s and 80s, and today, Sydney’s grandson, Simon Cope, continues to lead the brand. Today, Skopes’ suits are crafted to meet the needs of an increasingly discerning customer base, offering a broad range of stylish options for any occasion.
